Microsoft Activision Remark

European commission answer to criticism of staff member's microsoft activision remarks
IN response to remark made by a senior staff member on sosial media, the europen commission has clerified concerns of apparent prejudiece in the investigation of microsoft's activision blizzard purchase.

the commission is striving to guarate that yuou may still play call of duty on other platforms ( including my plastation ), according to ricardo cardoso, the deputy head of unit interinsituational & outreach at the regulation body, in a tweet earlier this week.

Even though the stetement complied with the body's mandate in term of facts, several gamers criticized it for what they saw as sony bias, espencially in light of xbox's repeated  assurances that call of duty will stay on playstation for the foresseeable future.

Now, cardoso is not at all involved in the proccess, the european commission has explained in a statement to tweaktown. the statement states that mr.cardoso is employed by the director general for the internal market, not the directorate general for competition.

the evaluation of this transaction is not being done by mr.cardoso. furthermore, he tweets in a personal capacity, as it as it is quite evident from his twitter profile. according to the law and the circumstances.

to be clear, im not involved in the marger's evaluation and dont even work in the department that handles marger, cardoso tweeted on saturday . my opinions are personal and not representative of the commission, whose judgment will be based on the fact and the law, as is evident from profil.

the usage of " my " while refferring to playstation in the initial tweet seems to have offended fans the most; however, cardoso was apparently referring to the console he owns, rether than a devation to a platform.

the proposed acquistion of activision blizzard by microsoft has been subject to a throught investigation by the european commission.

The European wachdog announced on tuesday that it has launched a " phase II " inquiry into the $68,7 billion acquisition following its initial investigations, as was expected, citing worries about possible harm to competition.

the proposed acquisition, is stated, raises concerns that it may lessen competition in the market for the distribution of video games for consule and personal computers (PC) as well as for PC operating systems.

regulators in saudi arabia and brazil have autohorized the transaction, but the UK's Competition and markets Autority has extented its probe into a second phase, before making a final decision by march 1, it is currently soliciting public input on the acquisition from interested parties.
According to report, the US federal trade commission may rule on the transaction this month.

Phil spancer, the head of gaming at microsoft, recently stated that he continues to be hopeful that he continoues to be hopefull that he continues to be hopeful that the transaction will be authorized despite the authorities' intense inspection being "fair" and warranted".
